To resolve this issue please manually download and apply the 1.14D patch via the links below. Links are separated depending on if you have the Lord of Desturction expansion installed or are just running the base Diablo II game.
So I am confused by this response. What do I do to get off version 1.14B and to version 1.14D? i have downloaded the installer off that link of yours and uninstalled and reinstalled. It wont trigger the update using the battle.net button so how do i get version 1.14D?

The expansion was released in Summer 2001 as version 1.07, the same version as the beta, but the 1.08 patch was available for download on the same day. Within a few months, 1.09 was released. This was the last patch for two years.
Just a note since I reinstalled it in this quarantine period :D After you install diablo 2 con windows pc, to play on battle.net you need to install the latest patch. This process is automatically handled by game, but you need to run as administrator to install this patch. So, install D2, then run it the first time as admin and connect to battle.net install latest patch
I am located in etc/firejail/ - I created the directory /sandboxes/wine and copied in the downloader. I navigate to the download files via terminal and run the prompt to install but get the above error.
@Th3-Think3r yes this is expected unfortunately and this can be solved by downloading the patch and installing manually before launching the game for the first time. There are a few more details in the last section of the article.
The game installs just fine. I used the installer downloaded from my account on Blizzard's website rather than whatever "Crosstie" might be available in Crossover's database. That way my key (what used to be the "CD Key") was set up for me automatically from my old license code. I used a fresh Windows 10 64-bit bottle and installed "DirectX for Modern Games" into the bottle before installing D2 and then D2:LOD.

A new pKa prediction web server is released, which implements DelPhi Gaussian dielectric function to calculate electrostatic potentials generated by charges of biomolecules. Topology parameters are extended to include atomic information of nucleotides of RNA and DNA, which extends the capability of pKa calculations beyond proteins. The web server allows the end-user to protonate the biomolecule at particular pH based on calculated pKa values and provides the downloadable file in PQR format. Several tests are performed to benchmark the accuracy and speed of the protocol. The web server follows a client-server architecture built on PHP and HTML and utilizes DelPhiPKa program. The computation is performed on the Palmetto supercomputer cluster and results/download links are given back to the end-user via http protocol. Here we report a web server, the DelPhi web server, which utilizes DelPhi program to calculate electrostatic energies and the corresponding electrostatic potential and ionic distributions, and dielectric map. The server provides extra services to fix structural defects, as missing atoms in the structural file and allows for generation of missing hydrogen atoms. The hydrogen placement and the corresponding DelPhi calculations can be done with user selected force field parameters being either Charmm22, Amber98 or OPLS. Upon completion of the calculations, the user is given option to download fixed and protonated structural file, together with the parameter and Delphi output files for further analysis. Utilizing Jmol viewer, the user can see the corresponding structural file, to manipulate it and to change the presentation.
